Drinking water clears acne?

Is it true that drinking up to 8 glasses of water a day will clear your acne? I have a mild case of acne that I would love to get rid of before school starts. Lately i've been using a facial mask that is supposed to clear blackheads, which has been sort of working but not quite. My mom won't let me purchase any other acne products. Does anyone have any other idea for at-home methods to clear acne?
